I have some rust spots on my Cherokee. Its like a gloss black/blue type colour not really sure of the actual colour but I'd like to fix some of the screwed up sections so it doesnt look so bad. Its a couple bad places where the paint has chipped right off.

I was thinking best way would be to sand it down to bare metal, use a self etching primer and then spray paint straight gloss black on it.

My only worry is that it wont be the right colour and you will be able to see the differences in...

I wasn't even going to paint it but soon my licensing is going to be done and I'll be going to meet clients in it. I can't have it looking terrible.

Theres some rust forming on the rocker on the out side and that I was going to do what you say but the stuff I'm worried about is a patch on the roof by the drivers side door and a patch on the hood.

As for your paint, just get the paint code off the Jeep, should be on a plate under the hood (at least it is on the Grands) and take it to a paint supplier in the city like CMAX and they should be able to mix your exact color in a spraybomb for you.

which truck would that be Mitko? lol

I might try CarQuest Brousseau. Thanks. I'm just worried because obviously it faded quite a bit since it came off the lot in 98. Know anyone that uses the optical sensor to extrapolate a paint colour closest to it?

I know CMAX has a scanner, most other big shops should as well

Nice Mitko. I'm thinking about buying a second car once I have a stable client base and such but for now theres no point in buying a new car if I can make my Jeep look respectable lol.

Those are nice G-wagons though.

lol Kunker. It's quite a nice minivan but I dunno if I'd ever call it a jeep.

I meant the orange TJ in the background...sweet G-wagen's too, but way out of my price range.

Don't be offended Mitko, your minivans don't look anything like a real offroad machine. :D

Mitko, I've got $5 if you park one of the G's on his Cherokee :stir:

And for the original topic, how close will clients be getting to the truck? If it's only got to pass at 50 feet or so, I wouldn't worry too much about a paint match. Just make sure you aren't leaving small trees and piles of mud in their lot/driveway, and I think most people will be happy. My 2 cents.

Thats the thing, because my target market is lower middle class to middle class I may be performing the odd drive to work or something after a meeting. In which case they will see the paint up close.

I doubt they will be looking for it but still. this is one of the reasons why I've been debating buying another vehicle. The only thing stopping me is if I get a DD I have to store my Jeep in Brockville because I only get 1 parking spot with my place.

Its hard to be ofended by a guy who never saw my "minivan" in action.
Just for your information - those minivans are being in places where your **** probably never will be. Ask before such statements.
No hard feelings :)

* I am NOT related to the **** in the background in any way. :)

Just from reading on here about Mitko and his driving style, I have a feeling I'd rather sit back with some popcorn and watch than have a seat beside him. I know I sure as hell wouldn't get in the buggy with Adrian, well built cage or not.

If it's that big of a concern, a professional paint job would probably cost in the same ballpark as a decent second DD, if you need it clean and professional looking for clients. That being said, it wouldn't take much trail pin striping to be back where you started.

If image is a big thing for your client?le, get the DD and leave the XJ for trails, even if you do need to store it in Brockville. If not, clean the rust up and get it close because it's going to get scratched and scraped on the trail.
