Thermostat mods?

Aluminum thermostat housing mods?

I'm looking to modify my thermostat housing so the lower rad hose has a better angle.
I need it to point mostly forward & down rather than the stock almost sideways and down.

Mine looks like this:


I'm thinking of cutting it just infront of the little stopper to keep the hose from going on too far then welding in a piece of an aluminum 1.5" elbow with the barbed end...

Jon..this one is listed for a trailblazer with an L6 but it is interchangable with the V8 (apparently) Napa part number 33939. Don't know if this helps at all.

From the pic it looks close enough to have a look at first hand.
