Motor mount interference

The motor mount adapter from AA apparently puts the engine side mount on the passenger side right over a bolt boss on the block:

Where it contacts the motor mount

The question is - cut the boss off the block, or cut the motor mount? I'm leaning towards cutting the block as I don't want to leave the bottom of the motor mount unsupported, but I'm open to suggestions.

Looking at those pics, I would clearance the mount, not the block. I think it will be fine!

Paranoid about the loss of strength cutting out the bend at the bottom, and same for cutting the webbing on the block.

Mount is probably better, though, as I can easily replace that vs a new block if something went horribly wrong.

Im with Adrian as well. Also that area is below the bolts on the mount so I do not think it will be taking that much load.

Mod the mount. when you clearance for the boss on the block, ensure the shape is smooth and nicely blended. This will prevent/minimize any stress areas.

Instead of just clearancing around that one boss, it looks like you could cut off an 1" straight across the bottom of that mount without affecting it's strength. It would also look cleaner and allow access to those threaded bosses should the need arise for an accessory mount.

What you can't see is how the mount is actually bent/contoured - cutting 1" off the bottom would have been a large change in shape and strength.

Maybe your right. Of course an inch was just a guess, possibly 3/4" or 5/8" is all that's needed, "irregardlessly" (read w/Bostonian accent) I'm pretty sure whatever material is left either side of the clearance notch you cut out will be superfluous.

Could you just drill it out and maybe put a bolt? just a thought. I could be right out in left field.

Already cut the mount. The problem is the bottom of the mount that bolts to the motor (in black) hits the boss on the block before bolting on flat. It actually hit the webbing to the boss as well, so the hole ended up a bit bigger than originally intended.
