Typically we're "up front" at the Centerpointe side, and someone is usually there by 5ish or a little later. See you there.

I find the location better, the food was great, LOTS of parking and lots of room inside to accommodate a large group...




my $2.50 (because .02 cents doesn't buy anything anymore LOL)

I assume you are talking about Tailgaters last night. Living in Barrhaven it is even closer to my place so I could be Biased and would say yes.
That said it is even further off the beaten path for those coming into town and Merivale traffic can be a bear (although taking the 416 to Hunt Club may be a bit quicker)
Other options brought up was seeing if the Legion in Bells Corners would be amenable to hosting us. It has cheap beer and are ok with us bringing in your own food since the Oak is shit.

I could, but there's not way I could have accomadated the group we had last night, I only have seating for 18.

If we move to Tailgaters we would definitely need the room, it was way to hard to hear last night.

Yes Tailgaters, I live in Gatineau and traffic was horrible getting to the Oak, it took me almost an hour. But then again, I don't know from where everyone is coming from.

A good portion of members are out west, some are as far as Petawawa. There are a small few more east but most are west endish (lanark, Carleton Place, Nepean). I would have expected Merivale traffic to be worse than getting to Tailgaters.
This was an anomaly. Usually the first springish meeting is when everyone shows up right before the season begins otherwise it usually is between 8-12 people regularly.

We used to go to the Cock and Bull in Bell's Corners which was good since they were less busy, had a section off and the food was cheap (not great but cheap) although the service was meh. Then they did a revamp and raised their prices and the food still sucked and the service was the same so we started trying other places.

Reason we had picked Oak was they were quite amenable to having us there assuming we would have decent numbers and were promising a standing reservation, free nachos for every 8 people. The nachos disappeared shortly after ("they kept forgetting") and we have been doublebooked 3 times from what I recall. Essentially the vibe I get is they don't care if we were there or not.

Interestingly I decided to be a dick (big stretch I know) and posted a nastygram on the Oaks Facebook page. I got this in response:
Hi Chris, Sorry to hear about this. You are absolutely correct, if we confirmed your reservation, we should be honouring it, big event next door or not. Could you please email us with some more details such as the method of reservation (online or call in) plus the name and time that the reso was made for? Thanks in advance for helping us solve this issue, and please accept our apologies for the frustration that was caused.
Any of the exec want to talk to them?
Odds are Andrew and Tim's conversation with them was more influential and I just threw the gas on the fire.

Tim is the liason to Royal Oak (since it was his suggestion), he planned on following up with them at some point.

That being said, Jimbog's friend Jim, is friends with the owner at Tailgators. He was going to see about getting us one of the meeting rooms for free, we'll see how that goes.
