I would have liked to keep the WRX for another year and finally try it on a track or go for a rally course (I forgot to add it hasn't been raced), but Barb won't drive manual and so we don't have a backup for her Liberty which is a pain. We'll also use the Golf to go to Peterborough which will save tons of fuel over the Libby.

Your too soft :)

I presume it's a new one... All i can say is that i was happy as you are with the diesel. I bought an Auto for the same reasons it sounds as you. And after the 2nd tranny rebuild, the savings on fuel due to the diesel was truly becoming questionnable....

I do beleive though that the tranny issues from VW are related more to the older style than new.. IF you haven't already (But you probably have), do visit OVD and VWVortex.. I lived there when running diesel day in day out. I got to a hair under 300K on a 2002 and then sold it. For 4K in early 2009 with needed new tires, brakes, timing belt change and a completely open statement that there are tranny issues.. In the end i still say a good investment :)

You will like them. I miss mine and am contemplating getting another when my wife's lease ends on her matrix.
