Hey guys, any decent wheeling back in behind pembroke/chalk river area? looks like a lot of back road terrain on google earth just not sure of property ownership. I went with some guys years ago and we had some decent water crossings until 2 trucks drown.

we go out once in awhile louis , there are some good trails and awsome terrain. as for ownership well we never been shot at or chased out. except for the time at aecl when the guys with machine guns escorted us to the fence and "asked " us too leave and made sure we had no camera's.....
Where I would like to go is in the park around km 60 maybe even 72. I used to haul logs out of there years ago and that there is some terrain I would like to revisite

Most of the trails in the immediate area are hunt camp access and ATV trails, so they are extremely easy although would be ok for stock kinds of vehicles. The terrain and scenery out here is great there just isn't anything challenging or developed. Not close by but has anyone heard anything more about the offroad/motorsports park being proposed up in Sudbury?

That's some good info guys thanks. I need to shoot some winching tutorial and snatch extraction videos for a company so yes I do need some nasty bogs, water crossings, and nasty stuff - but I still need to be able to get my truck out of course:) km 7X in the park - which park are we talking? Algonquin? how far from pembroke? I'd be interested but not sure about driving in a "park" rules and regs etc - but sounds interesting. There are a ton of forest access roads around round lake - might be good in there as well.

yeah we could go in at the barron canyon road and that brings you anywhere really , you can go to Mattawa from there or you can come out in Deep river, even out on hwy 69 somewhere .
We could for sure give you a hand with your video's too.

shoot me a PM, I live in Chalk River and know the trails form Chalk River to almost Mattawa. mucovich is correct, the trails are mostly very easy gravel logging road type stuff. its mostly crown land, But STAY OUT OF THE PARK, there are signs at every "major" logging road stateing "no motorized vehicles".

about a month ago i went in at the bissett creek forest access rd which is a little ways past rolphton from ottawa.. i wanted to explore the group of lakes that are all named after the whinny the pooh characters looking for a halfway camping spot between ottawa and sudbury where my family is.. beautiful area, some good views in there with the elevation, the gps maps that i was using must have been pretty out of date as they weren't accurate, the roads were mostly hard packed and didn't have much going on. random hunt camps here and there. must have spent an easy 4-5 hrs looking around, outside of the park only. the rules surrounding road travel in the park are pretty clear in that all travel off the main roads as marked on their maps is not permitted, a park permit is not an all access pass to the roads, however some signs are different than otherse and are quite specific.

i just noticed you mentioned round lk also, let me know if you guys are going in that area, i spend a bit of time near the basin depot inside the park, same deal for roads in there, no go but outside the park there are numerous roads that i've never been down.
