Looks like i found the problem on my leaky front ARB. The Bulkhead is all stripped..... Does anyone know anyone local who'd have ARB parts? Or, anyone here on the club with spare parts :)

It's a $5.00 part that will take a week to get if not longer. Hoping i can find something a little closer to home...

Thanks all.

If it's a relatively standard style of fitting, check Diotte's Hydraulics (also does pnumatics) or Schooner Industrial (on Bentley).

I'm guessing you are likely going to have to order it and wait the week.

FWIW, ARB is really good about sending out small parts quickly. (Bt/dt)

It's part # 6(Bulkhead Body - ARB-170605). It's the bulkhead that goes through the diff casing. #8/9 is the steel line that runs inside the diff.

From all accounts the outside thread is 1/2". the ID thread is from all accounts (Measured with my calipers) is 5/16". However part #5, which threads into it, (Central Compression Nut (5mm to 3/16") - ARB-170604 states that it's 3/16". Perhaps i am off on what i should be measuring?

In any event on part#6, since i went with the braided SS air lines, i thread into this part

  • 2 ARB air locker fittings
  • Axle fitting is a -3 AN male flare with compression seat for use with ferrule on opposite end
  • Solenoid fitting has a -3 AN male flare with a straight thread and O-ring seat on the opposite end

The inside thread of the bulkhead was all stripped to hell. Now i see why the previous owner had a massive amount of goop on the fitting end that stuck out of the diff.... I don't know how that helped though as it was leaking inwards as well.. Fawker...

This is your lucky day. I happen to have two of those that I don't need. The axles I got from Marek already had them in, and the kit I ordered came with some. I might need only one until I figure out why the rear is leaking (no tube attached). The front is good, so I can give one up. It's yours if you want it. I measured it and the O.D. is 1/2", I.D. looks to be 3/8" (max).

No go. If you notice, the bulkhead in the pic i posted above has thread straight through on the ID. The one you left behind is only threaded ID on one side. Other side is flared inwards... Not even sure how that even COULD work??

In any event, i never looked at it till i got home (Should coulda, didn't right there....).... Thanks for the efforts though :)

Ah well, sorry it didn't work out. I saw the pic up there, figured maybe it was an old one. Did mention it was flared on one side on our call though. :( Both of mine are like that, one for a D30 and the other for a 8.25. Don't know if that makes a difference.

Keep it with ya next time I see you I'll take it, I can always use it as a spare.

Edit: I just looked it up, my bad for getting your hopes up. This is what I have here:

I just pulled up Bill's write up on Pirates with his install on the 14b. Mine looks NOWHERE near that.... From what i can see, the steel line actually goes write through the bulk head and compresses with a nut on the outside of the diff??? OK.... Now i see that there are two different kinds.. What you have is probably this:

I looked up Bill's writeup too when I was gathering parts to plumb up those ARBs I acquired. Since his writeup is about 5 years old, and his fitting was the same as what I have, I assumed you had found an old pic of what ARB used to use. So the beer you offered for the part is now on me for losing you a day. Sorry, man. I should of checked deeper.
