Awnings / Canopies / Gazebos

I figured I'd be S.M.R.T. and put a canopy over the 20x24 concrete pad in front of my garage. Somewhere to work outside when it's nice but stay out of the sun (washing/waxing cars).

Tried CanUPease but for home hobbyist use these things are way out of my budget. "Proper" awnings are even more expensive.

So I was thinking about those outdoor gazebo things that CTC et al sell. The largest I've seen is 10'x12'. A little small.

Has anyone seen anything bigger? Something around 15 foot square...

some municipalities do not allow these types of structures, Renfrew is one :pissed:. Might be worth checking before spending $.

I use a 16" x 24" for storage, but it cost me $1000 used.

I like Johns idea of a tarp...maybe build a frame out of thin wall tube, like electrical conduit or whatever you can find. Bend it into hoops and drape the tarp over it.

Dirk, does Renfrew not allow the temp garages? CTC and Costco seem to be selling zilllions of those tan coloured ones around here.

Yes, Renfrew does not allow them at all. Some people do have them, seemingly without being hassled. As most by-laws, it usually takes someone to complain for the municipality to enforce the law.
That said, I plan on putting one up at home anyway.. :flipoff:
