Well was driving home today from picking up my girlfriend. I went to go from a stop sign and snap!!!!! I think the ring and pinion broke in the rear end! I had just got back from Kaladar today picking up my tranny. Good thing it didn't happen there or on the trail.
:banghead::banghead::banghead:

I guess now is a good time to get rid of that darn D35!!!
I will be opening up the rear diff to see what exactly broke tomorrow.

Yeah, It's not like i was launching super hard or anything. I did launch a little harder than normal but whatever broke it must have already been weak. I have always kept clean oil in it and am open on 31's .... wierd. I'm just really glad it didn't happen on the trail.

Don't feel so bad, I once broke my D35 spider gears backing out of my driveway :banghead:

Now here is the answer of the question you asked me some time ago.

Anyway, dont feel bad - shit happens.... with the ****s constantly. And it might be something minor, not R&P.

And to not feel that bad - today I spent 0.5 hour trying to fix my drivers door power locking actuator, it was litle bit noisy...:)

I spent several hours today trying to swap the rear wiper motors between the 2 ZJs and had to give up. The bolts on the outside are just too rusted, they wont budge! Well at least not under my strength. I drentched them with liquid wrench and the only change is the back liftgate is now icky!

Jen, if it is bolts through the glass they may be backwards thread. I'm not too familiar with the rear wipers's on the ZJ but i know allot of cars are backwards thread.

LOL!!!
Yeah, i'm thinking it may be the spiders now, we will just have to see tomorrow.

I once broke a 35 backing up in my lane too. But the tire was frozen in the ice....hehehe.

:lmao::lmao: Makes you wonder why jeep is still using the D35.

So let me get this straight, you're discouraging me from working on my own vehicle? :) come on it's not hard to change that motor, I know how I just don't have the strength

Try PB Blaster, it may work differently. Let it soak in and then give it a shot. Has worked for me a couple of times. You can get it at CT for $8.

No I am not discouraging you to work on your own vehicle, but if it is only matter of strenght this guy here would be the best mechanic, right?

What I am trying to say is that there is also things as knowlege and experience (not to mention proper tools too).

Sorry for the tread-hijack Matt.

Good idea, I'll try today to see if they are backwards. They are not thrugh the window, I may have miss-spoke there. It's through the lift gate just below the window, but regardless still may be backwards.

I can appreciate that, but how else am I to gain knowledge or experience if I don't try

Well i tore open the diff and took a look. It's the spider gears like what happened to Richard. Which is a good excuse for a locker!
Any recomendations? $$$ is an issue.

Aussie? From what I read they are the same design as Lockrite but have better workmanship & tolerances.
