Adrian: Is this the Marlin method you used for removing your axles?

From Pirate Toy FAQs:

How to change one quickly Camo method
Pull locking hub cap and remove snap ring.
Unbolt seal/felts on back of knuckle.
Unbolt brake caliper and tie out of the way. (can be skipped if you have long brake lines)
Unbolt steering arm. (leave bottom knuckle cap alone)
Pull entire outer knuckle assembly off of axle.
Swap in your parts.
Put it back together.
It's a big-time shortcut since you don't need to...

Yup, that is the way... I don't remove the calipers either, cause I do have long brake lines...

So I checked with Benson Auto in Bells Corners today for front axle seals.

One is pre 8/85 the other is 9/85 and newer.
One is $30 and the other is $13 (but I can't remember which is which)

I've got no idea what month the axles are, I know they are the fully trussed 84/85. They did say that the only ones they stock are the $30 ones.

Suggestions anyone? What is everyone else using for these seals?

Why dont you get the rebuild kit from trailgear or pjf?
It's about 80$ complete...
Or if you want to do the wheel bearings at the same time I think its another 70$ or so.
But you get all the seals/gaskets/bearings.

Just looking at getting the truck back together at this point with as minimal work/purchases possible.
Planning a full rebuld when I get the Longfields (hopefully later this year)
