Carrp and Murph

I had to work until midnight last night and again tonight, but I figured I would do some exploring today. I had a hunch I could find the entrance to the Carp Trail, so I went for a spin. I only went in just past the intersection (right goes to Crazy Horse?), as the water started to get deep. It was relatively dry up to that point. I was sure I could have gotten through, but since I was alone, I stopped. I am a lot of things, but stupid I ain't! :D

I then figured I would find the other end...

That actually isn't the real trail. But you were close. Also for the real trail the Crazy horse side is verboten. The land there is completely private property and the developer is itching to get the trail shut down (don't really blame him since about $40k in excavation was wrecked over a summer by offroaders who were hitting the old mud hole). It came very close to happening about two years ago and the only way we (OVO, EOTB and OJC) were able to appease him is that the trail officially goes until you see any houses. However on the trail that is maybe a minute up from a wrecked Grand Cherokee so basically that is considered the end as it is an easier landmark to find and a easier spot to turn around.

Well, that is good news I guess....Another trail to find! I knew enough to avoid anything private, so I stayed away from the CH. I did see a couple of fire pits, and it really burns my arse when jag offs leave their broken bottles lying around. Sure they weren't on the trail per se, but idiots nonetheless.

Looking forward to May 5!

If you do find the trail (essentially I think you missed the entrance) there aren't (well there weren't the last time I checked) any signs. Long story short half of the old mud pit was on private property and the developer had spent a summer redirecting water from another nearby development. A lot of people would go through the mud pit or bypass which then ruined all the work he had done. He already had the ear of some of the city council and was gathering evidence and comments from the locals who live right on the trail to get it shut down. An agreement was made that the local clubs would consider that section off limits and ensure to let anyone else know. It's a pisser but at least we still have what is there. In the last 5 years, there has been a number of local trails shut off to 4wds and we have to tread lightly (pun intended) to keep access to what we still have. If you do find the trail and you end up seeing the GC ahead, go to the right around what is probably a large puddle. That is the new mud pit and should not be attempted unless you have someone else there. It is surprisingly deep and I have only seen one person get through and he was on 37s
