Till Valhalla!
Just saw this on Throttle Happy, hydro is spraying the lines to kill everything this year apparently - and they say we are bad for the environment!

interesting concept..... if they make sure there is no environment left, they can't harm it. just doesn't seem right.

It's what hydro does - I was more interested in the comments about heavy equipment in there as well leveling out any obstacles.

Yeah, they routinely spray to kill. It's the heavy equipment that has people worried. If they are just leveling the access road then fine, as long as barricades don't go up afterwards. If they are leveling it from forest wall to forest wall...then that will suck.

That's general practice, how else are they going to keep trees from growing under the towers and lines?

My concern is out own health if we happen to drive, walk, eat there just days after they sprayed. I'll ask Barb if she knows about the herbicide they use.

its amazing how my pic gets around .. no spray and its not what they normaly do, its 2 d6s and a smoothing out from treeline to treeline.then spray with grass seed that chokes out other growth.
hopefully theres something left when they are done..i like to think for the most part that 2 d6's cant bury most of the big obstictals George and myself have found over the years

Well they at least used to spray, and it was nasty stuff. They were obligated to advertise this in local papers if there was any reason to believe people would go on the line. They may also put up signs.

Anyways, if there's any sign that a herbicide was used (lots of freshly dead vegetation, maybe a smell?) try to stay off the line.

Fawk this could really suck. I hope they just fix the road. Seems like a lot of waist to fill in everything

another fabulous playground possibly destroyed by "progress" makes me want to cry when I think of the memories I have in this spot...

Careful, comments like that may make you be associated with the greenies.
(but I echo your sentiment)

thats not the case at all. I'd like it left the way it is because I enjoy wheeling there. not hugging trees there. I "MIGHT" be up that way this weekend, and I'll take a look and see what I can see...
