So around this time last year I blew the clutch in my jeep and couldn't afford to fix it. Im buying a clutch hopefully this week and was wondering if anyone would be willing to come give myself and alan a hand in putting it in. Of course i would be of no help mechanically but there will be lots of beer and food to anyone who shows up. possibly a bon fire if anyone is interested. Pets welcome so long as there good off leash. We don't not have a heated garage but it will be covered so...

Call Keith at Napa in Perth. He's a member and gives us great prices.

Once you have it set a date and see who's available.

Do not get the flywheel resurfaced, they are cupped and can't be resurfaced.
Just take some emery cloth to the friction surface to clean it up, if its real bad it has to be replaced.
Make sure you Replace your throwout bearing, that is very important. And you should replace your pressure plate aswell. You can get a kit that has all of this.

Pretty much. The FSM states if the gouge is deep then it should be replaced. If it does get resurfaced it becomes a more "clunky" experience. Mine was done before I got it.

Thanks for jumping in Mat! I guess the old Zook guy should shut up...hehehehe. So if these get gouged do they become a throw away item? I like old school better!!

Well, pretty much. I learned the hard way. When I did the clutch in my old jeep I sent it out to ottawa clutch to be resurfaced. I put it in with a stage 2 bully clutch and ran it for a few months and held great. Then when I was doing obstacles it would slip. Replaced the flywheel with a brand new one ($200 my price) and it was perfect.
This goes to show you Ottawa clutch didn't measure or check the spec of my flywheel.

Most flywheels from manufactures are still machinable, the jeeps is the first one I have seen.

I have a tranny jack that helps a lot if you're working on cement or pavement. I'm not available to come over this week or next but if someone wants to swing by Dunrobin this week to pick it up you can borrow it. I also have a clutch centering tool and a long extension (I think 36") to get to those top two bolts.

Cluttch must not be centered properly Kas. Tranny may Have to come back out. Did you use an alignment tool when you tightened down the pressure plate?

Or the input shaft splines aren't meshing with the clutch. Put the trans in gear and turn the output shaft slightly.
