Cycling the suspension ~~ What's the best way to do this per wheel?

I am at a loss as to how i can do this without a forklift???

All i really have is an engine hoist. How would you go about hooking this to the wheel so give it a good cycle up without possibly damaging anything? I was going to loop it around the axle tube close to the wheel then come upwards and out at the top of the tire. But as i lift, it will want to pull it outwards will it not?

Problem i have is that i have no breaks or a rear driveshaft right now so i really can't drive it up a...

Run a heavy cargo strap through the wheel or, if you dont care about marks, a chain. jack it up from the side, with the hoist facing the tire. block the wheel opposite side and end, from the one you want to lift. "kiddie corner" The leg extensions from the hoist should fit around the tire to get the hoist close enough for a near vertical lift. Also make sure that the strap is long enough to place the boom above the sheet metal so that when it shifts the boom doesnt ram into the side of the sheetmetal. Should work sufficently enough. I wouldnt crawl around underneath it mind you. Or have someone winch you up a ramp.

That will work but you'll have to lift quite a ways to reach full flex as you will be doing both axles at the same time that way.

Another option, if you are checking anything other than tire clearances, it to set the Jeep on frame stands take the tires off. One side of the axle can be left to droop while you jack the other side up. The engine hoist will work well for this with a short strap under the knuckle. You are also only lifting the weight of the axle this way, not the whole Jeep.

I cycled my 60 back and forth several times with this method (although I used a Hi-lift not engine hoist) while figuring out my front suspension. I needed to use a ratchet strap on the low side of the axle to hold it just above the floor to keep it from dragging but I've got 26" of wheel travel on the front alone.
