Does anyone know the rules about articles online?

I've just found this site www.smart-card.com, could I just copy the technical
articles from the web site or do I need some kind of permission?. I am doing a school project.

I would assume you would need permission from the person who owns the site (or if there is a copyright, the owner of said copyright)

Why do you need to copy the article? Quote the relevant pieces and site the source, the same way you would if referencing material from a book. Plagiarism will get you an F.
