I want to design a few things for Mike to cut out. Anyone know of a free downloadable program (the easier the better) that works with his cutter. Thanks

Google SketchUp works well two. Also searchable designs created by others.

I got the draftsight awhile back. I finally got a few minutes to look at it.:banghead: All i want is to bring up a 2'x2' (mikes torchmate) square with a grid and it to tell me the size of the lines drawn in inches. It must be easy enough i did a draw something but i did't have any idea how big it was. i will be checking this thread tonight alot. Any help would be sweet. Thanks guys

The fastest way I have found to use it is to enter the length/radius of the line/circle that you are drawing on the keyboard. Select the tool you want to use (line tool) start drawing the line from your start point and then just type the length you want (say 3 for 3") and hit enter. It will automatically finish the line at the length you specified, etc.

What he said.

If you want a grid just draw one line and then use the offset command to make lines at whatever increments you want. Do that in both directions and voila instant grid. Change to a new layer after that so that you can turn the grid off later.

I was missing around with it. I thought i could set it up like graph paper. It seems like when I draw a 5" line I have to zoom in like a mile to see it. I have no problem with the drawing part it is just the set up. I don't really do computers. I could have done it the ol' school way with cardboard templates and my 4 1/2" grinder by now. haha The best way will be to meet up with Mike and get him to do it in like a minute, cut it out and be on my merry way.

Send me a sketch with some dimensions and I can draw it up for you. It will only take a second

Ya its a really simple set up to inboard the rear springs on my ftoy(next build is an ftoy 4 seater on fzj80 axles and a 3rz). I'm close to finshing up my 85 xcab, but i've aquired alot of stuff for this buggy I need to turn the pile of stuff into a roller to free up some space when I work. i'll work on a crude sketch, I'm more of a visual learner. If someone showed me i'd be set.
