Good junkyards

Till Valhalla!
A buddy recently asked me if I knew of any good junkyards in and around Ottawa and the valley that are any good and have scrap jeeps laying around, I said I didn't know - you guys know of any?

IIRC Kinneys was mostly old Willys/Kaiser era CJ5s. Did most of that stuff get crushed? Thought I heard they had crushed a bunch of the old stuff at Kinneys. Need to do a field trip.

Union has a few, but they are not great to deal with... Gaby likes to over charge for everything!!!

When I went to Kinney's in the spring we had a hard time finding a decent front HP D44. There was some interesting stuff there but it seems a lot has been crushed and I wouldn't say it was a haven for Jeep stuff. I would definitely call before going.

I always thought Jeep stuff was hard to come by in junkyards and was more of luck than anything to find one in a yard?

Only place I know that has an inventory ( I use that term loosley) is Kinny's in Kaladar. Boyd seems to have a lot of old stuff there, if he hasn't scrapped it. I think JL was there last, maybe he can tell us what he saw there.

:smokin:

I have SCOURED Kinney's as well as many other yards looking for old weird Eaton axles. LOTS of cool stuff at Kinney's. Many 1st gen Toyota minitrucks, lots of 1/2 ton american trucks, an old old iron ,but not a lot of stuff in between. It has been a while so I don't remember for sure, but I am pretty certain I saw a couple CJs in there as well as some Scouts and other IHs. It is not a goldmine and he does keep way too much non-cool stuff like old vans and stuff. The nice thing is Boyd is reasonable. He'll deal and if you're not a total jackass I think you'll always come away happy.

The place out near Stittsville is also pretty huge, lots of old iron and I saw a few jeeps, pricing is usually outrageous unless you huff and puff and deal, which I hate.

Ed's is Ed's. Depends on who you deal with and what time you're there. I have scored awesome stuff for cheap and some other times Ed wants 5X too much for junk. I am usually in Ed's yard, which is the industrial scrap side, not the vehicle side, Junior (who runs the other side) is cool but they never have anything I need.

You guys think Jeep stuff is hard to find? Try finding a 4.10 Eaton rear axle, been looking 2+ years, I am beginning to think they were never sold in Canada...

What about the place in Chelsea? Since I'm moving to Wakefield in a week, I'm gonna have to look into that place and report back.... :D

Near Morrison Quarry, Morrison Heights. I think my driveway qualifies as a "wheeling trail", especially in the winter, but I have a new shop with a *gasp* concrete floor that isn't cracked to isht and an 8 ft garage door.
