thinking of ditching my BOC account for air liquide. I'm paying 70 bucks for a hobby tank straight from BOC, 50 bucks from the perth dist. but I gotta drive al the way there

Air liquide quoted me 60 bucks for the big tanks of argo shield but that was last year and I haven't finished my BOC tank yet. keep in mind you gotta pay a downposit for the tank which can run 250+ depending on what size you wanna get

I won't do a rental again. I don't consume enough to make it worth while.

I bought a bottle at the Smiths Falls TSC. It was $229 filled up. Refills are ~$55 IIRC. Buy the bottle once and never pay a rental again.

Arnprior TSC seems to be clueless regarding getting bottles. Tried three times over the course of about six weeks to buy from them becuase they are handy to my location. In the end said screw it and drove to Smiths Falls.

I'm switching to TSC. I pay more rent than what I consume. Plus BOC and Air Liquid aren't open on the weekend which is usually the time you run out of gas.

:D

I should to, I have had the tanke 3 yearas now and haven't gone through one yet! damn rental tanks

Well I have the 1/25000... But I called the company and the mask is always ansci rated. Meaning most welding helmets block all UV and IR rays no matter what even if the helmet does not go dark. The dark effect is for comfort only.

Trying my welds trying to figure wire speed and all... Not sure what its suppose to sound like.. I think im doing ok.... had alot of burnback and lost 3 tips already....practice practice

Best way I can describe the sound you are looking for is a "tearing", ripping noise, hard to explain but its fairly evident once you find it.

Burnback is normally to hot and not enough wire, as in your voltage is so high that the wire isn't coming out fast enough.

Well

No matter what I seem to do I cant get that sound. I mean it sounds like a really fast machine gun. But it makes perfect welds right through. I want the sound.....but cant seem to tailor it. Been playing with all the buttons. also I got a lot of stubs at the end (little ball at the end of the wire) maybe a sign of too fast or too slow.

But welder welds everything, I burnt trough 1/4 inch by accident. Yeah I can make holes lol lol. But I was able to cross stich it back in one piece. (Practice steel nothing on my truck).

Ill keep trying to get that sound.

well

Im using 10lpm. If I turn up the wire speed anymore it welds really fast. lol
Speedy gonzales style.... I can weld up to 4 inchs in 6 seconds. My welds are not porous nor are they concave. They are nice and flat, but cant seem to find what im looking for.

What am I looking for? Whats the characteristics of a perfect weld. (coming from the gun and the weld)

Im correct i shouldnt have a ball at the end of the wire?
What you guys do for smoke and seeying the puddle?
