Just like the title says.

For the past 2 days I have noticed an annoying squeak coming from the front sway bar on my TJ. I know, I know, its a squeak get over it.... Trust me I am trying but its like nails on a chalkboard.... LOL !!

I have tried WD40 = nothing
I have tried Jigaloo = Still there

Maybe swap out the bushing for new ones ?

I am pretty sure that its not related to the lift since I have had the lift installed for over a month now and it just started 2 days go.

I have googled...

I'm assuming you mean sway bar when you say torsion bar. Is the noise apparent when you're stationary and rock the jeep side to side, or only when you're driving?

LOL...... I corrected myself. That's what I meant. The sway bar......

Yes, when its stationary and I rock it side to side or when I press down and pull up on the front bumper the squeak is there....

Well I doubt it's the links squeaking, I recommend you remove the sway bar to confirm the noise is gone, if yes lube the bushings(on the surface that wraps the bar) with some anti-seize or moly lube or plain ol' grease and put'er back together.

Now that I've written that, double check that you don't have a link seizing. The ball and socket on the top end of the link can seize and squeak........

I have brand new sway bar links with new hardware and bushings on both that came with the lift kit. When I push down on the front bumper I can see the sway bar move up and down along with the sway bar links... I can hear the noise coming directly from under the plastic sway bar cover near the bushing area....

If it is the bushings should I simply replace them. I have looked around and they are not that pricey. I am going to say that they are original which would make them 8 years old.....

Assuming that the replacement process is not too difficult or need any special tools.....

if you pull the brackets and slide the bushings to one side you can liberally lube the sway bar then slide the bushings back into position. I know the bushings are inexpensive but it's best to be sure. Diagnosing over the Internet is sketchy at best.

What he said. However if there is any play in the bushings you may as well replace them. It's two bolt each but make sure to use some kind of penetrant before starting. The bolts are probably pretty rusty and last thing you need is to shear a bolt off (well then you have an excuse to get a Currie Anti-rock system instead).

Oh and WD40 is not a lubricant, it's a water dispersant. (pet peeve of mine)

Thanks for everyone's feedback. much appreciated. I will diagnose and get back with the results.

Thanks again

it is almost 90% better/gone thanks to the new front upper and lower ball joints and axle u-joints. Money very well spent..... Once I replace all the tie rod ends and tie rod shaft and get a proper wheel alignment I think that the " wobble " will be 100% gone which will be awesome.

As for the SQUEAKING I removed the top plastic cover off the front bumper and examined the sway bar bushings and see that one of them is literally falling apart. The bushing looks and feels like hard plastic and the hole/opening looks to be stretched out... Anyhow, I called Scott from No Limits and he was able to order me a whole new set for a really good price. Will get it tomorrow and install them this weekend.

Thanks again everyone for all your help and advice.

If you are gooing to grease the bushings use a silicone based one, anything petroleum based will swell/breakdown the rubber bushings.

Cheers!
