First of all, that dust cap over the lock absolutely traps salt really bad. I tried it out before the winter, and today I open the cap and it was filled with salt. Literally plugged right up, I could fill a salt shaker with it. No surprise the tumbler was ceased. I spend an hour or so soaking it in...

I've tried them all and there all the same, the locks will eventually seize up and then you basically have to break them off like you did....thanks salt! Gave up on those years ago, the hitch stays in when I need it and is pulled out when not in use.

I do the same, I've had to help a few people cut theirs off in the spring because of this.

Ive had mine for 2 years on my Sierra. No issues. But I used dielectric grease that I keep in my truck on it since day 1.
