3-linking the front of the CJ-7.

Front axle is a full width D60 with SRW hubs.

With H1 hummer rims turned full lock I need to put my lower links darn neer the center of the frame.

I am at a crossroads as what to do...

Do you really use all the avaliable steering? At full lock, its 30 degrees, thats right to the stops.

I either figure this out or go back to my other rims with 4" backspacing....

Anyone want some H1s?

Anyone have some idears?

I will check to see if I can do that in the morning, I think my problem is wanting those H1 rims to work so badly.

I originally bought them to fit on a regular trailer but since then I got a big old wide one, It will fit no problem...

Decisions, decision..

I understand the BS on the H1 rims is pretty shallow but I'm having problems visualizing how you are having arm placement problems.

Normally going from a small axle to the massive knuckle and its swing on a D60 means the outer sheet metal is a casualty, not the inner bits.

How wide is your axle roughly (WMS-2-WMS)?

Have you considerd re-centering the H1 rims?

I wouldn't trade my H1 double beadlocks for anything, nor a single degree of steering.

WMS-WMS is ~69" But the H1's suck that down quite a bit, any bigger then a 38-39'5" tire and I would bet it hit the frame next.

I hear you on that Bill, I wanted them for that reason also.
I was originally only going to add a weld on kit to my other rims but then these came up.

How hard do you think it would be to recenter them yourself? I know you can get pressed centers and weld in's. I guess the hard part would be to make sure its welded in square and true.

Centers seem to be cheap, 1/4"(31$) or 3/8"(41$), not sure whats better but its not much more for the thicker. Stazworks has the HDPE plastic inserts for 50$

If you're going to re-center them I would look for someone that does pressed (dished) centers... much stronger than just flat plate ones.

DO NOT use flat plate centres if you run it hard at all. In fact, pretty much don't get them at all.

I just ordered 4 pressed centres from Mac on Pirate4x4. He bulk-ordered them from MRW.

I plan to cut out the old plate ones and weld-in these myself with Justin's help.

Ok, well I guess dished centers it will be. BUT I have alot more work till I can even touch that project.

Got the lowers tucked in, but after just typing out what options I had for my upper link, I am left with no choice but to put it on the passenger side.

Its not even an option for the drivers side which would be nice to have but exhaust, pedals, clutch slave, all in the way make it simply WAY to difficult to squeeze in.

I could have delt with the exhaust but the slave cylinder is right tight against the frame.

I cant wait till it starts to get tight with the tie-rod, steering cylinder, pan-hard bar, shocks, bumps... It will either turn out nice or like a bag of crap.

I will take some pictures tomorrow, almost need a camera person around.
