Jar of marbles

Hey guys,

I recently have started hearing this sound from the tranny, it sounds like a jar of marbles rattling around. My shop said it's internal and nothing can really be done, but that it's also not an "extremely bad thing" and that it should be okay with the change of some fluids. Now I trust these guys as they are also friends, but I'm just curious what the sound actually is... I'm thinking a throwout bearing. Has anyone else ever heard this sound or heard of it?

I have a NV3550 in my libby and they are notorious when idling to make noise. if sitting at a light and put it in gear it will disappear until I take it out of gear and let the clutch out. been doing that for about 50 thousand km. sound similar?

Thats exactly it. If the clutch is released and I'm at a red it sounds crazy. When clutch is in it is gone!

It's probably the release bearing rattling around, the noise goes away when you put pressure on it stopping it from rattling

Its just bearing noise. Most likely input bearing by the sounds of it
Very common on those trannies.

I would not be concerned
