Hey guys, been reading these forums for quite a while now.. lurker and all. I just recently picked up a 2003 Rubicon and haven't really had the time nor funds to do anything with it, but been enjoying it even if I only get to drive it on the weekends.

Anyone familiar with the stock hardtops in Jeep TJ's? My lift gate's glass shattered and now I'm stuck trying to figure out a few things. From what I can tell, the 03-06 glass isn't the same as the 97-02, correct? Is it physically...

The size of the rear windows are the same for all tj's i believe. In fact i think the rear glass itself is the same throughout all years of TJ's. It's the hardtop it'self thats different through out the years.

i shattered mine the day i bought:banghead:....i think your best bet is to go to speedy glass or something.....i tried finding a used one for a while with not luck

broke mine last weekend, Got a buddyin the buisness and the jobber cost on it is 309 + tx that is with the privacy tint, and you need all factory parts with it!!! ie rear sprayer mounts for gas shocks etc

Thanks for all the info so far guys. My dad looked into it and got a quote for about 350, so I might just end up having to go that route, ugh. Paying too much to not drive the Jeep on the weekends when I can!

But yeah was really confused but spent a bunch of time reading and doing some research online to clarified my own mind. Still can't understand why they have seperate models for 97-02 and 03-06 given from everything I've read they are identical. I understand the hardtops themselves are different (eg, vents on the sides in earlier models that were switched to the tailgate in later models and the electrical connectors being different), but there's no real need to change model numbers on the glass is there?!
