Jeep TJ hard top question

Hey guys.
So my question is this, are the hard tops on all TJ's interchangeable? Looking specifically at before and after when Jeep made some changes at the end of 2002. Im asking because i have heard some guys say they are the same, and others saying there are differences. Im looking at buying another hardtop used for my 98 TJ. The one i found is off a newer style TJ (03) and don't want to drive out there and buy it if its not going to be a perfect fit. Anyone have any experience with...

It should fit however there are some differences:
1. The vents have moved from the early models on the top to the back gate so you may notice the fan makes weird noises as it has to push harder (open a window a crack) since it has to fight the pressure

It will fit for sure I have done it, that said everything 2greys said is exactly correct

If you need hinges for the lift glass we have them in stock. They are prone to seizing up and it could cost you a glass....

Thanks for the links. That solves that problem. Only seems worth it if I can find the newer style top at a cheaper price. If anyone has a TJ hardtop for sale let me know. Can be off any year if the price is right. Looking for a black top with tinted windows preferred.

I have one. I'd consider selling it. However it needs a new side window and some fiberglass repair on the DS rear corner. It's from a 2004.

i have on off a 2005 as well as the 2005 wiring harness.

couple chips outa the back black with tinted windows black on the inside as well.

the young lad doesnt want it so...... your call
