This is probably a stretch but I am looking for the wires that connect to the defrost grid on a TJ hardtop. The ones on mine are no longer coiling and have some gouges in them so the wire is bare at spots and the plastic connector to the grid is a little malformed.

The Mopar part number is 56009120AC. Looking at the diagram in the Mopar Parts Catalog, it basically consists of the plastic connector a 2 foot wire that is coiled like a phone cord, a rubber grommet that goes in the hole in the...

Yikes, don't know why they would be that expensive though. I figure $50 for the pair would be about right for what you are essentially getting is maybe $5 for materials (if that).
A junker was my next step. Thanks for the link though I have it bookmarked

Although doing a search there, I wonder if it is the whole wiring harness for the hardtop that would make more sense. The picture in the catalog looks to be just a section of it that leaves the hardtop and attaches to the grid. Got to go make some calls...

Doesn't seem like a miss-quote. http://www.jeepworld.com/Parts/index.htm Listed price here is $206 US dollars (searched for the part number)

Try a junk yard maybe?

Another good site for parts is www.rockauto.com it's just that some times it's ahrd to find the exact part you are looing for. I think they are after market and so some things just aren't available.

As far as the Toronto TJ's it's a small part I bet you could arrange the part to be mailed, with paying ahead of course.

I think it works but I haven't had the chance to use it yet. Just that the one on the passenger side is completely unspiraled and has some cuts in it which is exposing the wire and it looks like ass. I will probably contact the guy parting out the TJ.

UPDATE: Read the thread and it looks like the hardtop has been sold.

x2 on the repair. You may want to find out exactly what is failing first. Test right from the dash switch to the window glass itself. I hate chasing electrical problems, but I have learned it is easier to diagnose than to start replecing peices in hopes that it willl work. I will be heading to toronto in the next few weeks if that helps.

:smokin:

If you can't find one close there is a guy on jeepkings parting out 2 tjs but it is a fair tour. Maybe he has the harness.

But if you can just get the connectors, usually most rear defrost connectors are the same on most vehicles. And then solder in the wire.
It would probibly be cheaper to fix it then replace it.

Just to confirm, you need the bit that is inside the hardtop, and not the wiring that leads up to the hard top?

I need the wire that goes from the hardtop to the window. Looking at the mopar parts catalog, this is separate from the part that is inside the hardtop. I will see about getting a screenshot from the parts catalog of what I am talking about.

Naw, it's ok, I can totally picture it now.

Too late, got it online. I circled what I am talking about.

The silly thing is the description in the catalog is Wiring Back Light which is totally not what it shows as being in the picture. I would assume that description is more for the third brake light but that would have been part of the tailgate section not the Hardtop.
