HI all, I currently have Goodyear Wrangler MT 35x12.5x15 on my XJ wondering if anyone in the area has any 35 or 36/13.5/15 tires on a 5 x 4.5 pattern I could pop on my hub to check out the clearance. or anyone with an XJ with stock axels who ran that width of tire and remembers how much offset was needed..I think Id have room to fit the extra 1"..my 12.5 have no rubbing issues, fenders are cut out quite a bit..more or less the full turn and rub at 13.5 with a 36" tire vice 35 that im curious...

I run those. My D30 HP ran the whole Gorge fine but it was a pretty good traction day. Then I snapped axles 2 times in a row in snow. I now have a D44 HP and I can still snap low end chrome molys.
It is an inch wider and almost 2 inches taller as the Irok is 36.7" vs 34.8" for the Goodyear when both are new so that is a whole lot more tire. I tried it and it didn't work. Up to you but here is the point in my build where I did this http://ovo.ca/forums//showthread.php?2168-Project-XJ-Evolution/page2 and those fenders are trimmed alot on the front and the rear I had to end up using bump stops to keep my tires from not just rubbing but ripping the inside of my fenderwell apart and almost destroying a tire.

Hey Dwayne thanks a bunch for the heads up. Awsome rig ya go going on there..but I dont have the shop or cash to be upgrading as bada### as you are.....yeah looks like Id be biting off more than the old XJ can Chew..havent had any issues with the Wranglers at 35 but I think I could stuff those 36's under the 8.5 lift and the cutting I already have done but man would lose alot of flex on the up part...still short arm..control arm drops but short arm just the same...guessin I better tone down what im looking at and go with what is working for me for now....and If I stay at 35 I can use my 5 tires I have now as spares...vice having to find new ones...

steve

This was a little stuffing of them before the control arm drops witht the 36's it would be tight, back is now cut up as well with TJ Flares

what Dwayne said... I ran 35 x 12.5"s with stock axles (chromo shafts) for a season with success but i think the countdown to KABOOM was ticking. I believe that 35's are the limit on stockers and even then you have to be mindfull of the skinny pedal. I definately think you'd be biting off more than you can chew with those IROKs and stockers. I also think that a minimum of a 3.75" backspaced wheel to clear a tire that wide.

May be counting down as is..yes am pretty mindful of the skinny...even more so with the Aussi now in the old Dirty 30..lol...but have a full extra set of stockers to make due with if something should happen then may have to look at upgrading...anyhow thanks the opinions on the tires ive seen the light as most say if it aint broke dont fix it and ill be honest witht the 35's its still quite a versatile rig..lol..i cant really complain..

big time, there aren't too many places you won't be able to go on those 35's. I used to surprise people all the time on how well 35's and stock axles could perform.
