Need A Frame..

I am curious to know if I should buy a used frame or go new. Here's the reason, my wife has found the Jeep she has been wanting for a few years. Its a 1978 CJ-7 with a 304 Automatic. The Jeep has everything, and body was just painted a year ago. The Jeep is to be a summer toy. Street/EZ trail machine. The problem is the frame is a write off. JUNK. The owner is asking 2500$, its well worth it, if i can find a frame. Its not worth it if i have to pay 2000$ for a new frame....any suggestions?

Might not be the answer you were looking for but i would keep looking. A Jeep with a rotten frame is still not a good way to start, and 2500$ is way too much regardless of what he has "put into it" if the frame is rotten. Sounds like you would be buying someone else's problems.
Not a lot of clean/solid CJ7 frames on the market. One guy I know is building one from scratch, but obviously this is not for everyone.

I thought of that as well. Its a time thing. I just don't have the time anymore. (Kids, they are great, just real time consuming, LOL) I would not pay that much money for something that is rottten. I can't understand why he had it painted and the bodyshop said nothing. New exhaust, tires.....list goes on. Frame is junk and has beeen for a while, by the looks of it.

Cool. Thanks. I should look at a newer format. It's the wife. She loves CJ's.
