Hey, so i usally park on the grass, and parked on the pavement and noticed my rear diff dropped a few drops of fluid from my rear diff, i am just about to go on vacation and I don't have time to bring it in,


so i bought some diff fluid (80w90) and pulled off this plastic plug and black oil was falling out, i figured it was normal, maybe im parked on a incline or something... poured a bit of new stuff in (thought i might be running low because of the few drops could have started anytime i...

That is the right stuff. The oil will turn black and smell bad when it is used. If the plug you removed is about half way up the diff and some poured out that means it is full (unless you are parked on a big hill).

A few drops looks like a lot on pavement but in reality isnt that much. If I were you I would make sure to bring the tools needed to check it with you and check it every once and a while. Top up if needed.

yeah i think im just going to take the bottle with me, thanks for reassuring me i was afraid i screwed it up I figured it was supposed to overflow but i wasnt sure. thanks alot for getting back to me so quick, im going to drive alot more peaceful now
