Was looking for bellview info on the web as I just installed one on my K5 . Found lots of info and where to get parts , motors etc....seems to be quite a following for these things , but can't find any troubleshooting help that pertains to my specific problem . Just to refresh memories , the bellview is the predecessor to the 8274 that does not power out . Works fine when winching in , disengage the gear to unspool and it will unspool a little then stop . No matter how hard I pull , no more...

Is the big drum brake dragging? Splitting the cases is easy peasy, the bearings are all in stock parts at GBS.

Brake drum is not dragging on the brake band if that's what you mean . Here's the newest confusion . I spit the cases over the weekend , but just loosening the screws that hold the case together was enough that it free spooled great on the bench . Split it anyway , everything seemed fine inside , so cleaned it up , lubed and put back together . Still seemed fine on the bench . By now though I probably had 20 feet of cable on the ground . Put it back on the truck , reeled in my cable and tried to pull it back out . No go :banghead:
For my next trick I'm going to unbolt one side of the mounting bolts from the winch to the bumper and see if the mounting holes are pinching the sides of the winch together therefore pinching the drum . Never know , this is a home made mounting plate that came with the pile .I don't think there is a problem but I've seen before where a hole that is off by a few thousands fights you all the way when you didn't think that could possibly be it .

Mine can be a real B%?&& to spool out, I usually just give it a good tug, and start running. Once the gears spin up it's easier and less jerky. You cna put a power in/power out motor on it easily, all you need is a gear from Warn and the new motor (100$ on Ebay).

If the end plate where the drum sits is not set perfectly they will never spool out right - mine is the same way and it needs adjustment. When I first got it the thing spooled out amazingly - but since the remount it spools like crap.
