Hey All,

My name is Marc and I am picking up a 2006 Nisssan XTerra (off road edition) today. I got the XTerra to pull my boat and carry my canoe and fishing equipment into back country trout lakes... that got me thinking that I would also like to get into the sport of off roading.

I am interested in tagging along on some of the more mild runs at first to get me and the truck broken in and have guys who know what they are doing around in case I get into a jam.

Welcome to OVO

I would like to hear your thoughts on the 06' Xterra off road...what mods would you folks recommend?

Sell it and buy something else. :lmao:

Not a lot of Nissan owners on here but many others more than willing to help you ease into the sport.

As for reccomendations, Tow hooks front and rear and a good set of mud tires would keep you happy until you decide just exactly what/where/how you want to wheel. Without any lift, I'd say you could likely go up one, maybe two tire sizes from stock. That's sort of the norm for unlifted vehicles before you get into clearance issues.

The off road edition comes stock with:

- Electronic locking rear differential
- Bilstein off-road performance shock absorbers
- Hill descent control and hill start assist (automatic transmission only)
- Rear: Multi-leaf with solid axle
- Hill descent control and hill start assist
Did they come with double 'Hill descent control and hill start assist' or it's just overexsited tipo

Looking forward to getting dirty :D

Welcome to OVO. I say wheel it a couple times before you do anything to it. Get feel of what you wanna do or what you need. Like already said, there isn't a whole lot of Exterra's in the club but we will be glad to bring you through some trails and help you out, as long as your not scared to scratch it or drag it over some rocks that is.
