Greetings and Hello to Everyone!

I am a newcomer to Ottawa and crossed paths a few days ago with a guy that recommended I look up the OVO folks. I'm looking forward to getting to know the OVO bunch and the wheeling in the region. I've been in town since early January, 2013 and moved here from Atlanta, GA. Most of my wheeling has been in Colorado and New Mexico with lots of camping and other outdoor stuff in Oklahoma, Texas and Arizona. Camping and wheeling in the SE USA has been less...

Welcome to OVO, and the Great White North

Have you been to Tellico? A few of us including myself went from 1999-2003. That was a great place to wheel, to bad it's mostly (if not all?) shutdown :(

Many thanks for the welcomes!

YJ... Nope, I didn't make it to Tellico before it was closed. I just moved to Atlanta a year or two before it closed and didn't know my way around well at the time plus what I did learn about Tellico, I didn't think my pure stock Frontier SC/CC could do much without carnage to it. I moved to Atlanta a year or two before Tellico was shut down by the Forest Service and it was a big mess, lots of controversy. Regional 4wd clubs invested lots of time in trail upkeep, much of it focused on runoff control to keep silt out of the Telico River. On the opposite side of the coin, there was a negligent and very small minority of irresponsible wheelers that tore the crap out of the trails and going outside the marked trails onto virgin land. Lump in a very fine trout stream and militant tree huggers and you get a perfect storm tilting against the 99%+ of responsible folks. North Georgia trails have been almost entirely closed off to 4wd for years, a few remain as ATV, cycle and trailbike only and the rest are just gone. The only real way to get much variety in wheeling in Georgia is to join one of the major clubs, which have access to private land.

Berger... I'm looking forward to seeing your Pinz in action! It's been ages since I crossed paths with one on the trail and it was a blast watching him till he disappeared down a trail I had to back away from. There's a business in Denver that specializes in importing and refurbishing Pinz and Halflinger type military utilities. Coldware Remarketing or something like that.

I think I saw that there's a meet up on February 28? I'll try to make it and look forward to meeting some of you all.

Welcome to ovo! And no worries about your rig size. I joined this this club with a 1980 bronco and there are many trails that will be doable for you. You should come out to gorge this spring its a nice place to get a feel for this. Happy trails!
