Went with Farm-Boy's suggestion and used a bunch of 4-pin trailer connectors princess had on for $2.50 each, and a marine fuse panel, ended up with:

Much better.
I see you marked them with letters on them so you don't mix them up. Good idea. I have used wifes nail polish on connectors to colour code them. That stuff is lacquer and never comes off and it comes in a million colours.
