rear recovery point on stock bumper?

my 04 jeep TJ came with front recovery hooks but nothing in the back it has stock bumpers. i know my trailer hitch is not considered a recovery point any suggestions on a cheap fix or part?

What type of hitch is it? If it is less than 2" it probably is pretty weak. What I ended up doing with mine was going to Crappy Tire and picking up a 10000lb tow hook and installed like what he did in the following link:

It involves drilling into your frame as there is only one hole there.

Or add a rear tow hook to the side of the frame. Or buy a new rear bumper with tow points :)

Class 5 hitch, and plow mount good enough tow points for me? Theyre both directly to the frame....

I would think a class V should be good. If it was a jeep, only disadvantage I could think of is the hitch assuming it is under the bumper is it impedes a bit of your clearance at the back so you may scrape it but that is trivial

thanx. i think this weekend i will remmove the hitch and install a rear tow hook to the side of the frame just like the pic.
Do you think i need two or is one side enugh? my entention is to be legal on all the club rules.

One is fine... but two is useful for situations where you need to be pulled backwards and to one side or the other. In some cases, a hook on the other side of the frame rail would be handy. But I wouldn't worry about it too much.

i decided to go with two hooks (got off my ass and went to canadien tire to get a second one) and it looks greate . by removing the hitch you wer right it dos give me more clerance for the bumper
