Rotten Body Mounts

So I bought a 94 YJ for $500.00 I was pleasantly surprised that it's in great running order and just needs the front floor pans patched to safety. I fully expected I would have to trailer it home.

Anyway, now that it's in my garage, I'm giving things a closer inspection and noticed almost all the body mounts are split open. When replacing them, should I do a body lift as well? I had never heard of body lifts until I starting searching for the replacement mounts.

Are these 'pucks' any...

I just did a body lift and a Motor Mount lift this weekend and have to say the hardest part is getting the bolts out without breaking any. I was lucky that none of them broke. I would say you need to answer this question:

Are you planning on doing one in the future? Tummy tuck? Aftermarket Gas skid

If the answer is yes you might as well. You will be doing the bulk of the work anyways. Things to keep in mind though (these are TJ related but may still be true with a YJ):
1. Transfer Case shifter may need modification
2. Shifting especially from 1st to 2nd can bind unless you do a MML at the same time or widen the hole for the shifter (assuming this is a manual)
3. Decided on poly or rubber. Poly is more vibes but they don't rot. I assume you won't be using this as a DD so Poly may be the better choice.

There is a good thread on JF on hole placement if you want to PB Blast them so you can minimize on any breakage you can't soak the nuts from the underneath with how the mounts are designed. (http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=705291)

Body mount = Body lift?

So do the pucks in the body lift kit replace the body mounts? They look the same only thicker. ie: Do I need to buy a lift AND a body mount kit?

Depends. In the case of the ones I got (and most in general) they supplement the body mounts so you need both.
Quadratec has replacement body mounts made of polyurethane made by Energy Suspension for a YJ for $60US http://www.quadratec.com/products/16058_31.htm and JKS 1.25" Body lift for $120 http://www.quadratec.com/products/16067_01.htm.

Here is a link to the options from Quadratec. http://www.quadratec.com/products/product_search.php?cv=400&cn=Body+Mounts+&+Lifts&c=32&pg=1
Do shop around though. Quadratec has a really good selection but you may be able to find cheaper (or free shipping)
