hey, i have 5.13 gears in my sami from a sidekick, and recently broke some teeth from the pinion gear. i had a parts sidekick parked out back and had already stolen the gears from the front diff, but when i went to swap the rear i realized that the diff is the wrong size?? so , do i need to find another front sidekick 5.13 to fix my rear pinion on my sami? or are there 2 different sizes of sidekick/tracker rear gears??? im sure lots of you have done this before. any suggestions or info...

Poo, that sucks! I did a little reading on-line and apparently you do need a set of front gears from a 'kick cause the rears are too big....anybody out there have a set of 5:13 gears from the front end of a 'kick?????

Actually there is someone parting out a sidekick on this forum right now who probably has a front diff with a set of 5:13 gears in it. just what you need!:)

Depends if it's an auto or stick, but yeah, you need the front gearset. You really want to swap them into a Sami case (3rd, that is) as it's iron versus the trackick's aluminum.

You could fab up a rear hybrid housing and use the larger r&p. It's a trackick center section with sami tubes. I made my own quite easily. Plus, the trackick rear carrier housing is iron so you wouldn't have to set up the gears if you are leaving it open diff. Even then, if you were to lincoln lock, mini spool or lockright it, you don'tneed to mess with the pinion.

Thanks for the info. I have already recieved an email from someone with gears for me. i will definatly be keeping the steel housing and have also discovered that the 5.13 which i stripped had a locker in them <i had always thought they were welded because there was never any ratcheting>
i will have to change pinion to keep the steel housing but i was planning on installing new bearings / seal anyways. anyways thanks again,

Wagon.
