well I have a question its time to rebuild my transfer case and not sure what gears I should use I am currently running a 1986 Suzuki samurai with 513 gears and 33x12.50x15 I like trail riding and some mud but I still want to be able to drive down the road so any advice would be helpful and if someone has a good transfercase for sale I be interested

With your tire size and axle ratio, the 4 to 1 t-case gears wound be a good all round combo.

Yep those are the ones, I believe it also gives you a reduction in high range also. I think about 8%? Its been awhile

Just looked at Lowrange site they actually recommend the 6.5 to 1 gears for tires above 32". But I personally ran 33" swampers with my 4.16:1 gears and had lots of power, even ran my 35" boggers with them, with no issues. I switched to 6.5:1 because someone had a t-case for sale for a good price. With the set up I have now 5:13 axle gears 6.5:1 t-case and 35" boggers, I usually use 2nd or 3rd gear in the transmission with the t-case in low range most of the time.
Gear Set Comparison Chart
Gear Set 4.16:1 Gears 4.9:1 Gears 5.14:1 Gears 6.4:1 Gears 6.5:1 Gears
Low Range Reduction 84% 115% 127% 181% 187%
High Range Reduction 12% 16% 18.3% 17% 20%
Suggested Tire Size 29”-30” 30”-31” 31” - 32” 32”+ 32”+

I heard a rumor that transfer cases with 6.5:1 don't like highway driving

Hmmm...I never read anything about that in my Zook days. With the low Trackick gears you have in the diffs, though, I'd think the 6.5:1 would be a bit on the low side in high range for highway driving.

Just for comparisons sake, I run 5.13:1 with the 6.5: 1 transfer case gears and 34x9.50 swampers. I try not to go above 80km/h. The engine noise is unbearable due to the RPM required with this setup. I have had this combo for 6 years and love the crawl ability. If you are going to drive your truck regularly above 80, go with the 4:1 gears.
