Sidekick and Smaurai dumb questions

Working on my pile of parts (can't call it a vehicle yet) I've run into two road blocks.

#1 Is there a trick to getting the rear drive shaft out of a sidekick transfer case? I thought it was just a slip yoke, but just pulling on it does nothing.

#2 I'm running a 8v 1.6L motor, Dana44 front axle, and 35" tires. I have a kick power steering pump, bracket and steering box as well as a Jeep Grand cherokee steering box.

Will a Kick power steering set up survive pushing 35's around...

Would using the kick pump and jeep box be a good idea?

cheers

The drive shaft should just pull out of the transfercase on a slip yoke, must have been sitting for awhile, give it a couple of taps with a hammer.
In my opinon you might want to upgrade your steering I ran the stock Sidekick set up with 35" boggers and it sucked, but I am running with a spool in the front, if you are open in the front it might be livable? I do no that Hydro assist with the spool works great! I am going to full Hydralic over the winter I will have a complete Hydro assist for a sidekick up for sale shortly Pump, Bracket, hoses, reservoi,r cooler, ram ect
Just what ever you do do not buy a jeep! They have there own full list of problems!

You're right Jim, you never break your Zook ;-)

Oh I never said I never broke it, just no matter what you drive everything breaks eventually. That's part of the fun of this sport! My friend Ryan 2 weeks ago blew up a Rockwell third member on his suzuki!

The drive shaft should just pull out of the transfercase on a slip yoke, ...... I ran the stock Sidekick set up with 35" boggers and it sucked,.......

I got the drive shaft out, It looks like the splines had rusted themselfs together. I justed didn't want to start pounding on it untill I knew that was what had to happen.

What sucked about the kick steering? too slow to turn? to much effort required?

any thoughts on using the jeep steering box and kick pump?

I'm thinking the bigger jeep box is like using a larger piston, more force but slower speed. down the road I can see a pump upgrade, but not right now.
