Dunno if this is making the rounds of the forums today or not. I just came across it and though it was pretty neat.

Interesting...color :)

IMHO nothing special, every self respecting *eep owner have the same and ever better built truck. With the resources they have they can build much better vehicle, not to buy IFAV (Infantry Fast Attacking Vehicle) from oversees. Personal thoughts.

Sure.

I thought it was neat that it was a CJ8 style configuration for the box (instead of Unlimited) and the use of a Cummins diesel.

It's a 2000... yet it has an Unlimited's soft top side hoop kinda thing. The Unlimited started in 2003 IIRC.

The "troop seats" ie: Seat covers look cool and useful, I'll give it that.

There is a company in the US that makes them. I think most of the Jeep parts houses sell them (or a version of).

Pretty neat if you don't mind green US flags all over your junk.

I've wanted to build this same rig for a while, except with a 6BT, auto trans and 1 ton axles, with Warn flares and a stretched rear tub. Now that TJs are so cheap, it almost makes sense!!

I wonder if this is where Jeep got the idea for the unlimited

Jeep was making LWB versions of both the TJ and YJ long before the Unlimited - we just didn't get them in North America. Marketing tards at Jeep during those years I guess.

All I read was .... "Cummins B3.3T Turbo Diesel Engine with 105 horse power, 289 ft. pounds of torque, up to 30 MPG." .... was there more to the post. :lmao:

I would like one of those engines. :smokin:

Auto versus stick is an old argument. Different people prefer different things. Choose what makes you happy.

For a military 4x4 auto makes a lot of sense. 17 year old conscript Jethro is not going to be easy on the equipment and automatic will let the drivetrain last a little longer.

I'd never have a stick 4x4 again (Bt/dt). The arguments about control and being able to bump start don't fly with me. The auto is just so much easier if you have comparable crawl ratios and I try keep my kit in proper operational condition anyway.

I've been stuck with a stick that we couldn't bump start. Hmm, I guess a couple hundred foot run at the Hazeldean mall parking lot is not enough of a "charge" to get the ECU in a 16V Suzuki operational. There was nothing wrong with the car other than leaving the lights on for a couple hours. CAA boost and the car was fine until I sold it a year or two later.

That said, I'd never have an automatic sports car, even a flappy paddle gearbox style unit. Drove a BMW 135i a few weeks ago with the flappy paddle unit. Hated it. Give me a rifle bolt precise manual like in my S2000 any day. If anyone out there has a Ferrari 599 to change my mind let me know. LOL
