Starter Motor Question...Please Help!!

Anyone know if the single wire between the starter motor and the solenoid can be replaced. This wire on my '97 TJ, 2.5L has corroded so much that it broke! Now jeep won't turn over:banghead:.
It looks like one end of this wire has a bolted connection but the other end goes into the starter motor housing through a rubber bushing. Can I open the starter up and remove, replace this wire? Has anyone done this? If so ... any suggestions as to where I can get the wire?
Any help would be greatly...

I had the same wire crack right off where it goes into the motor when i was disassembling my jeep. I too have a '97 2.5L. It's not just a rubber bushing. It's permanently hardened into place. I had to replace my starter. Granted i found a used one.

You should be able to use older ones from earlier '90's however it changes from '98 on and i don't think it will work for yours. Ensure if you head the used route, you get the right one.

Thanks OD!
That's what I thought. Orville Auto Electric down on Gladstone said that they could put a new lead on my starter for $30......but at the same time I'm thinking he may not replace the rubber..... This would leave it open to water etc... Not good! I will most likely save myself the drive from the west end and look for a replacement.
BTW nice job on your '97! I think you could probably start calling it a 2010 model! Nice work!
