Saw that today also in the flyer...

Keep in mind that the costco one is a 10k lbs, and comes with multi-mount plate, snatch block and roller fairlead... :beer: :)

Superwinch is comparably quality to Warn if you get the higher end stuff.

I don't know their model line so can't comment on the one you posted.

You think comparable to a Warn? I'd compare it to a Ramsay, Nothing is close to a Warn in my opinion.
Definiately better than the Champion though

Superwinch site says:

"Superwinch?s new LP8500 8500 lb (3856 kg) winch is designed to accommodate entry-level buyers shopping for excellent value. Meeting the rugged demands of off-road and utility use, the LP8500 introduces price conscious buyers to the quality, power, and
performance advantages of the Superwinch brand."

For the price< I may get one for my rear mounted winch.

Depends on what line of winches it is. Superwinch has the entry level stuff (Thanks Dirk!) and then the stuff like you see on the Camel Trophy trucks - which is more Warn-like. From what Dirk posted, this sounds similar to the Warn Tabor line that was recently discontinued.

My understanding is that Warn is not as big as Superwinch outside of North America.

I wouldn't trade my EPI9000 for anything......it's damn fast even under load, (it's quite a bit different than the one being offered on sale I realize), I love it and if I had the money I'd probably pick up the one on sale at CT so I could use it on the Samurai and transfer the 9000 to the 4 Runner.....

if you are looking for comparison to other winches, I just posted one in my build thread "Project - Truktor".

I just spotted a Warn M8000 with roller fairlead for $529 new. Is this a good price, or are they always close to this price?

That is a great price!!! It comes with free shipping too ( I am sure just withing the US) but just have it shipped to Ogdensburg. I would take that over a Superwinch, Ramsey, Milemarker, Champion or Tintan ( sorry Duncan) :eek:

How does one get stuff shipped to Ogdensburg?

Also, I'm not yet a full fledged member. Is there a way we can do this?

Thanks.

Yeah, it's a Winchforce, 8000 lbs, 218:1 gear ratio, 3.6 HP, 95 feet of wire. Weighs 88 lbs. No fairlead.

$348.

Page 51 in the flyer.

Thats Ok Mudlite . The Titan 10k was designed around the M8000 because it is a good reasonable priced Winch. I only made the gears beefier and added more seals for waterproofing and of course did away with the traditional solenoids and went with the silver cadium oxide coated contacts. and a little larger motor to bring the amp draw down on the electrical system. here are the numbers for load etc as you can see the Warn is still faster under most loads compared to the Titan 10k. But i am not interested in what a Winch sells for in the USA but rather what i can offer for a decent value here in Canada.
Cheers.

Line speeds are as follows
Warn no load 42fpm = 80amps
Titan 10k no load 35.5 fpm = 75 amps
Titan 12k no load 33.5fpm 85amps.

At 4000lbs the speeds /amps are
Warn = 11.5fpm =285 amps
Titan = 10k = 11.2 = 220amps
Titan = 12k= 17 fpm= 158amps

At 6000lbs the speed
s/ amps are
Warn = 9.75fpm = 350amps
Titan 10k= 9.5 = 290 amps
Titan 12k= 12.8 fpm = 231 fpm

I'm no expert, but those are pretty decent specs in comparison.
Yeah, that's real decent.

So, am I reading between the lines incorrectly? Is Duncan saying he designed/built these things? If that is the case I'll pony up for one the next time to help the R&D effort. I must have a few more buildings around that I need to level. ;)

I just got back from my Manufacturer last week . I have been working on some ideas for a few small changes for next years model ( mostly with the wirelless remote ) . I did play around with the idea of adding a integrated Compressor to the Winches .I had a couple of guys assigned to help me and we came up with this.

I am not sure this will happen because it is just to vunerable to the elements although the compressor itself is a very nice unit that has held up well in the Australian outback.
Amongst other things i did with my time was testing both winches on the hydraulic Ram for both repeated pulls and holding power I spent one day doing repeated pulls on both the 10k and 12k models with various pulling loads from 2000lbs up to 12k for the 12k winch . I lost count as to how many pulls i actually did on the machine but it was a fair amount. I also did some field testing on the 10k Winch for a day it was attached to a 2.5 turbo Diesel Cherokee ( nice machine ) I was very happy with the results ( this was just a play day for me it did not prove anything i have not already done many times ). Granted i did not compare them to other Winches but i am very confident in the Quality / durability of my winches .
Cheers.

I thought i would update this old thread from last year.
My last post on here showed something i was working on at the Factory last spring . In the meantime i have worked on it a bit more and this is the finished product that i finalized in December. There are a few more changes to all my model winches for this year that are not noticeable on first glance but . The improvements ( at least in my opinion) are in both the wired and handheld remote . Motor sealing. Brake .and the solenoid and housing.
I am picking up the 2.5 gallon air tanks with the fittings on Monday so the Compressor Winch can have a full OBA system hooked up to it.
