So what are better axles "Double Tough Gen V" Front Axles from trail tough or rock assaults from low range them seem to be pretty much the same

most people put rings on there birfs to beef them up. Trail tough and others likely put more material in the outside of the birfs to keep them together and different materials (cromoly, ect). Most failures on birfs happen when your wheels are turned, puts the birfs at there weakest point. As far as which is better, both have a one year warrenty, and use the same material. trail tough is cheaper by $40

I can only speak from experiance with the Trail Tough axles. Installed them 4 full seasons ago, at the same time i added a Lock-Rite and brand new axle side gears. To date there have been zero issues with this set-up and it has been well tested on many trail runs. Now I am not a "drop the clutch with the wheels turned to full lock" kind of driver, but throttle is used when required.
The build quality on the trail tough axles was beautiful when I unwrapped them. Fit was perfect.
A well spent 280 bucks.

35" boggers with a spool in the front, just pulled the drivers side out this weekend because I destroyed my wheel bearings while at the Bandands in Indy, and the axles are still in perfect condition! great set of axles!

i'd say screw the zook axles and go right to big boy axles! or learn to drive with what you have. As mentioned, they don't like lock to lock . how did you break them in the first place?

I am doing that now John, Full width, Dana 44 high Pinion out of a 1979 Bronco and a 31 spline 9" in the rear. My front axles work great with zero issues, it is the rear Calmini axles that I keep breaking,
2 of the now!!

They are SUZUKI big boy axles LOL.. I have a high pinion king pin dana 60 front and a rear dana 60 to put in. But that means new custom beadlock 16" rims and new 16" tires. My rims and boggers I have are brand new. Can you convert dana 60,s to take 15" 5x5.1/2 rims ????????????????? Anyone
Jack over... send me a pm if anyone knows! Thanks

Dynatrac [edit - maybe Solid?] makes some hubs to convert to 5x5.5, and you'd need to grind down on the calipers. Some semi-float 60's came in the 5x5.5 back in the 60's, so that should be possible. Full float might be a bit more work - probably need the same hubs as up front, which would be more $$$ than just getting new 15" 8-bolt wheels, then it would just be grinding.

yes, there are 5x5.5 conversions but it would be much cheaper to get 15" 8 bolt wheels and shave the caliper brackets - that's what i did and i'm happy with them although TMR now has 60 caliper brackets that allow you to run chevy 3/4 ton calipers and rotors that fit 15" wheels no modification required.
