It'll be easier to pick up an 8.8 from a Ford Explorer and later have disk brakes allready. Stock 44 VS stock 8.8, the 8.8 is 35% stronger!
Good luck!

They are harder to find up here. There was more of them sold in the states with the Dana 44 option than in Canada. Danny is right, getting an 8.8 from a Ford Explorer (lots of info here) is a really good alternative. So much so that a lot of the aftermarket companies have taken this into account. For example East Coast Gear Supply will get one set up for you so you just bolt it in but it will cost you.

Hmmm... Maybe ill go that route. think ill go pick one up next weekend. But for the 4.56 gears you need a 98-01 or else you need to order a new cross pin it looks like.
