Trailer Building

Hey Guys,

Is there any info somewhere on what is required if you make your own trailer? Registration, inspection, insurance, etc...

Has anyone done this? Is it a hassle to get it on the road?

Thinking about making a little trailer to pull behind my Jeep.

I recall Jon (Farm Boy) mentioning a couple years ago that we couldn't register new home builts anymore. Of course the simple way around this is to buy an already registered home built then slap the plate on your own home built. This could save you money if you find a good deal with parts you can reuse (axle, tires, tonque, lights...).

^ Any official link about not being about to register home built trailers?

Do trailers get some type of VIN tag mounted on them?

All that would be required is someones registration I'm guessing?

So i cant even give you an M100 US mil trl, so to answer your question, Registration (Homemade 35.00 for plate no taxes) inspection (no), insurance (no, covered under veh when attached, cover under house when parked in yard)

Thanks for the offer Jody as cool as it would be to have one I don't think it'll be big enough or work for what I have pictured as the final product.
