Vibration in the Rubicon

Under hard acceleration and then at highway speed the Rubi has a pretty good vibration. What is interesting is when you pull it into 4wd at 80k the vibration stops, not just lessens but stops. The only vibration I get then is when I am on the power and back off hard I get the same vibration under compression braking but it fades once the load is off the drive line. The u-joints all looked OK when I put the drive shafts back on, maybe a little stiff so maybe driving it has made that an issue...

i have a friend with a yj that had the same problem, turned out to be bad front axle shaft u joints.

Interesting, I did just change one of the front unit bearings because it was bad and it got rid of part of the vibration or really more a shake. Just took the rear of the shaft off the pinion and the grease in the caps smells burnt. I found my adapter and got grease into it. The front joint on that shaft is factory original, I think I will get 2 new u-joints tomorrow.

Remeber those mis matched upper control arms....
You replace those yet? If its not a ujoint my guess would be that

Could it be the rear end torquing and changing the drive line angle? I had that happen with my new SYE in my cherokee.

Thats what im wondering. I know he has kis matched length upper control arms on the rear so im thinking thats the problem.

Hmmm that is interesting, I should get at changing those joints tonight and see what happens.
