Where to get small square tubing?

Looks like a roof rack *is* going to be required for me to carry all the gear I need to to camp. Yes, I know people say they are gay, yes, I know they will kill mileage (I'm already getting around 10MPG, how much worse can it get?).

I'm looking probably for 1/2" or maybe 3/4, square tubing. I'd also like to get pre-bent 90's to match. Radius of the bend is not important as I'll design around it as needed. Any idea's?

If your in the west end of ottawa an easy place is Loucon metal off slack rd. (no affiliation) They can cut to length (for a fee), and carry a complete line of steel and aluminum tube. I don't know if they have pre-bent 90's, but if your using 1/2" you can use a conduit bender if your careful. You could also mix square for the base and round to get nice bends on the sides and top rail. In the past I've been able to get a nice coped fit to round with zip-cut disk on a angel grinder, finished with a 1/2" round file.

Look at welding shops that do ornamental fences and the like - I'd presume they can either bend it up for you, or recommend a place to pick up pre-bent corners.

Fence all off Hawthorne (Might have scraps).

There's another fence place off hwy 31 before Winchester. Same deal, they might have allot of scraps that you could use for cheap.

If you are near Almonte there is Branje Metal Works on March Rd. They are about 10-15% lower than Loucon for metal prices and have plenty of small sizes in stock.

Branje sells steel? Thanks for letting me know. They did some railings for us, they do great work BTW.

This might be a bit out of your way, but Superior Metal Centre on Old Sheffield in the east end does small quantity stuff in steel and aluminum. I work there so I can't really claim no affiliation, but I'd be happy to help you out if I can. We'll cut your order to size while you wait, providing I've got the stock. No ninety degree elbows though, but as alphawerks said, you can use a conduit bender on the smaller stuff.

I have 1" round and square, if you give me some measurements I could up a drawing in bend-tech and let you see what it will look like and how much material you will need
