I have decided to try my hand at welding and fix my TJ floors and weld up my roll cage and bumpers myself. With that said, i am looking for a welder that will be meet these requirements (Weld sheet metal as well as DOM tubing and plate for bumpers). I am completely new to welding however grew up on a farm so.... Well, anyone who grew up on a farm knows that you learn to do EVERYTHING on a farm. Unfortunately, i just never got my hands wet with welding....

For the sake of a few hundred bucks I'd buy this machine:

http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/p...d=1408474396672857&subctgrid=1408474396672983

I'm a big fan of buying tools once and having more capacity than I need. What's ~$200 over the course of the rest of your life?

FWIW, I have a machine similar to the one I linked but with an upper capacity of 3/8". There has been a handful of times in the fifteen or so years that I've owned it that I wish it was bigger.

I wonder if you can ask for a $50 discount for the ghey NASCAR sticker. :)

Shop around as well. Those prices don't strike me as that much of a deal. Normal retail. Doesn't Duncan sell a MIG/TIG/Plasma machine for that kind of money?

Missed the sale by 1 week then. CT tends to cycle their welders. Each week there's a specific one for sale.. Thanks for the info.
