this is probably a stupid question but what is better a synthetic rope or a steel cable on a winch

i like rope for it's ease of use and light weight, been using rope for years now and would never go back to steel - it can bind on itself at times though unlike steel but IMHO the pros outway the con.

Plus synthetic is much safer.
