Wrangler Territory 235s in Mud

Hi Guys.... Newbie here. I just traded an Iltis in for a 1974 Pinzgauer 710M, and I want to do some mild offroading this year. Now, when I say mild, it isn't because the truck cannot handle it, but because I probably can't! :) I have a question on tires...specifically the Wrangler Territory from CTC. I had a set on my Iltis and I really liked them, but I am curious how they do in mud? I will be going to a 235/85/16 (which is very close to stock). I bought the truck with BFG A/T 285/75/16...

I don't know anything about those tires but I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to see pics of your Pinzgauer.

I am really leaning towards them...just for the sake that I can get in and out of my garage without airing down and up. Hopefully I can sell the other rubber to offset the cost.

Here are some pics...

Duratrac's and Territories are the same tire - different name if you pick them up at Canadian Tire (Territory), or least that's what I've seen. There are a lot of threads on Jeepkings about those tires and a number of folks recommend them for a mixed street/trail rig. If you are going to be purely trail, I'd look at a more aggressive mud tire myself, but that's just my 2 cents.

And as said, can't wait to see pics!

EDIT:

Neat looking rig - can't wait to see it in person some day.

Thanks!

A mixed tire is fine with me. I am a fan of the BFG A/T, but I want to store the rig indoors....and they make the truck that much taller....coupled with the 13.25" clearance I have on stock rubber. :glasses:

Here are two more shots...

'Dozer Sherman...

I do hope to hook up with the club this year.

I put a set of Duratracs on my Jeep about a month ago. Fantastic tire - my new goto tire for mixed usage. Pretty agressive for an AT and quite decent on pavement. Much better than the BFG ATs I've used in the past (on-road and mud in the fields around the property). I'm running 265s, seem to have pretty large voids for an AT.

Btw, after doing some googling it appears the Duratrac and Territory are not the same tire.

Good to know - I've seen that posted up on JK more than a few times, and should know better than to just blindly have faith in anything on the internet.

Ya, I think the Territory is fairly unique to CTC. One of those close to one-offs that you cannot get anywhere else. The CTC reviews for the tire, and there are a fair amount from across Canada, are very positive. I think I am going for the 265/75R16 as the foot print is wider, but the height is still 1" less than the BFG ATs. Of course, they will cost me more.

I have a set of 17" on the wj dd they are a great tire! they are all E rated tires the dura trac comes in D and E something to keep in mind when buying. That's my 2 cents

Duratracs come in C also - not sure about D. I put C on the Jeep.

my 235 territories are ok when it gets slick, but there is a huge difference when comparing traction to my old swampers. wear wise not sure how much that beast of yours weighs but mine are wearing really well with about 20k on them now. wish i'd seen this thread last week, i would have traded my 235's for your bfg's as i'm looking to go a bit bigger.
