Well i got a hardtop for the jeep. It is a 06 hardtop, mint condition and scored it for only $200!!! My jeep never came with a hardtop so i am looking for the wire harness to the hardtop.

Dealer want $160 for the harness and thats with my discount so i was wondering if anyone has a used one.

How does one have a used harness for the hardtop wiring? Is this something that can be separated from the main harness?

I ditched the hardtop a few years ago, you can have mine, IF it can be easily removed without butchering things

There's basically 3 parts:
From main harness to back of tub
Wiring from back of tub to the wires that leave the top to the grid.
The wires that go to the grid.

The only catch is the connector from part 1 to part 2 changed in 02. Assuming yours is from a 98 and his is an 06 he needs to find an adapter. I think they exist.

According to the dealer the two little pigtails that go to the defrost grid are $320. I found a jeep parts place on ebay that sells them for $25 a piece but can't get around to replace them since the top is only on until end of March for $50. If I don't find a better deal by fall, I might order from him.

no kidding, i sold my 98 top for $400!!

$320!?! Wow, They must be selling you the whole rear glass. Those are very difficult to replace. You can buy special glue but it doesn't work most the time. Sometimes you have to use a silver solder (melts quicker) and that might not even work.
Whats wrong with yours?

I think it is either:
a. The wrong price in the system
b. They are selling all of the wiring inside

That was a quote from Metro. I was going to call the one on Hunt Club and see if they could get a different quote. I think the guy at Metro doesn't feel inclined to look any further into it. One of the other dealers may.

The problem with mine are 1. they aren't slinky any more, 2. the wire covering is gouged so you can see the wiring and 3. the connector on passenger side has seen its better days, its been bashed around and has been deformed. I got the contact back on to the window using the conductive adhesive you can buy at Crappy tire which I did about 3 months ago and it looks to be holding. 1 drop was all I needed. $11 :finger:

Ah, i remember you saying that those wires were in rough shape. I got a printout of all the parts thats on a hardtop from my buddy at capital dodge parts. I will look at it and see if it has those wires on it and I can try and get you a price. Does your defrost still work?

Last nice weekend, I went out and measured the voltage between the two contacts. With the + on the Passenger and the - on the driver I got 12v so according to the FSM it is. It isn't the fastest defrost though.
