I recall back 18+ years ago, it was the thing to have shock boots on your absorbers and stabilizers, however i have noticed that nowadays it seems that this is not the thing to do.

i can see cons to it (Traps water/mud), however i also see the pros (keeps dust off, does keep water/mud off)..

What are the thoughts on this?

Cheers,

Most shock boots have holes in them to allow air to escape when compressed, but these same holes will suck in water and mud which I think is far worse than not having the boots.

Keep then off, I think by the time they start wearing from the mud and leaking they're probably due to be replaced anyways.

Back in the late 80's and early 90's I had hot pink shock boots, with matching dick cepek light covers and windsheild wipers.!!! Don't see much of that anymore. Hey lets bring back an old trend............... I don't think so!

Man, I remember when Dick cepek was the shiznit! ;)

Leave 'em off. None of the high-end coilovers and such use them.
